Arctic Storm
January 06, 2025
The arctic blast we've all been anticipating has arrived. Here are some tips to keep your water lines intact for the duration of this winter storm.
- Set your thermostats no lower than 60 degrees farenheit.
- Drip your indoor faucets, specifically the farthest faucets from your main valve, anytime temperatures drop below freezing.
- Open cabinets under sinks to allow heater air to warm the pipes.
- Disconnect water hoses and cover your outdoor faucets. You can buy faucet covers at any hardware store but towel or thick wool sock will help in a pinch.
- Turn off the water supply to your sprinkler system and drain your sprinkler lines.
- Any exposed water lines should be insulated to prevent freezing, specifically those in attics, crawl spaces, and garages.
- Place an old towel over your meter in the meter box.
Stay safe and warm everybody.
