Arctic Storm

The arctic blast we've all been anticipating has arrived.  Here are some tips to keep your water lines intact for the duration of this winter storm.

  • Set your thermostats no lower than 60 degrees farenheit.
  • Drip your indoor faucets, specifically the farthest faucets from your main valve, anytime temperatures drop below freezing.
  • Open cabinets under sinks to allow heater air to warm the pipes.
  • Disconnect water hoses and cover your outdoor faucets.  You can buy faucet covers at any hardware store but towel or thick wool sock will help in a pinch.
  • Turn off the water supply to your sprinkler system and drain your sprinkler lines.
  • Any exposed water lines should be insulated to prevent freezing, specifically those in attics, crawl spaces, and garages.
  • Place an old towel over your meter in the meter box.

Stay safe and warm everybody.
