KEMPNER WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION-RATE CHANGE

Kempner Water Supply Corporation’s Board of Directors has voted to return to Stage II Water Conservation effective January 1, 2024. This will begin our new rate structure announced October 6, 2023.

The base rate for residential meters is NOT increasing and will remain $75.00. First tier pricing (0 to 15,000 gallons) will be $7.05 per 1,000 gallons. Second tier pricing (15,001 to 30,000 gallons) will be $7.30 per 1,000 gallons. Third tier pricing (30,001 gallons and above) will be $7.55 per 1,000 gallons.

From the General Manager:

We are experiencing very cold temperatures again this year, which will freeze your water lines if they are not protected. We suggest that you make sure your meter is right at or below soil level inside the meter box. The meter box can be insulated but please do NOT use heat lamps or heat trace inside your meter box. The meters will freeze if they have not been protected from extreme cold. Having water flowing through your lines will assist as well as lining your meter box with insulation or towels to prevent exposure to freezing winds. Since we have gone through a freeze cycle your meters should be ok, but you may want to insulate any exposed pipes along with keeping the flow of water moving by dripping your pipes.  If you experience water loss it could be due to lines freezing, but Kempner lines to the meters likely will not freeze. If you have any questions, please let us know.
